The Attitude of Gratitude!

IMG_0683

It was yet another great bash this year. First, I’d like to keep the theme going and send out a great big “Thanks” to all of my patients who came!!! It is such a pleasure to be able to socialize with you and actually talk to you about something other than your aches and pains.  Below I will summarize the night in pictures, as they are more entertaining than my description in writing….

Who knew that I could enjoy zydeco music so much?! Growing up in Miami, zydeco isn’t really part of the scene, but I just couldn’t keep my eyes off these 2 guys, and a girl who was a smokin’ fiddle player!

I was excited that Terry could make it to the party. He is a busy guy working full time as a nurse in the ER at Munore Regional in Ocala and the Cardiac Cath Lab at ORMC in downtown Orlando.  And in between all that he practices as an Acupuncture Physician once weekly here at Harmony Wellness Center.  Many of you know, but some may not, that Terry and I are partners, AND partners. I am so blessed to have a companion who is so wonderful and not to mention I get to have my own personal acupuncturist!  (there’s that attitude of gratitude again!)

Aisha, the belly dancer, was incredible as always. You can visit www.shimmygirl.com and catch a video of her in action.

Here was one exciting moment that wasn’t listed on our schedule…..2 animal adoptions!  A Healing House staff member found 2 tiny kittens who needed homes.  After bringing them to the event and  having 3 gorgeous little girls displaying them to our guests, there was someone who was gracious enough to adopt them. (Thank goodness because I had to struggle not to bring them home myself!)

Here is our friend Paul hanging up the newest artwork display of Maria Reyes Jones. Maria’s artwork is all over the walls, which brings her serene and uplifting energy to all of our guests. Feel free to come by and check out her pieces.

And so there is always the Henna lady with the great big line forming around her table and all of the rubberneckers hovering around wanting to see her latest creation. Of course, I had to have one too!!! So I chose a beautiful mandala pattern that earned the compliments of many. And I get to have the privilege of decorating my skin with the ancient art of henna (which is quite a bit deeper than ‘a temporary tattoo’).

Following the belly dancer, was Jason (except he was scarier than the Halloween character!) There were knives, choke holds,  breaks, locks, and swinging punches during his demo….but don’t worry, it was all in good intention and no one got hurt. Jason is a FIlipino Martial Art teacher who specializes in self-defense. He uses the thousand-year-old philosophy he has learned from his gurus and shares it in a class setting here in our yoga studio. See, I told you the pictures were better than my description!

Here is Laurie doing what she does best……Massage!!! (well, actually she is a really great yoga teacher too!) If you lost your amigos at the party, you can almost guarantee you’ll find them face down in her massage chair!

And then there was none……..Yes, I’m talking about the food. It was delicous….Thank you Naomi for the beautiful set-up, Tropical Smothie for catering, and Hagen Daas for the dessert. Everyone, even Healing House staff, needs a cheat day – and this was it!
